Cara Kombol is a passionate advocate for the neurodiverse community, and the creative mind behind "The Calm That Jake Built".

Growing up as one of six kids, with half of her siblings being neurodiverse, Cara's personal journey fueled her pursuit of a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Washington State University. Now, as a neurodiverse individual herself and a parent to two children navigating sensory processing disorder and ADHD, she is committed to celebrating the unique journey and beauty within our diverse community of out-of-the-box thinkers.

Shaped by over 15 years of hands-on experience, Cara’s journey as a parent to neurodiverse children has uniquely positioned me with expert-level knowledge. The countless hours spent in therapists' offices have provided invaluable insights, driving her dedication to elevate awareness and offer crucial support. Fueled by a deep affection for children's picture books, Cara has converted this expertise into a powerful medium for learning, seamlessly weaving the enchantment of words and imagery to convey essential messages.

Inspired by her own family's journey, Cara has a wealth of ideas for books centered around neurodiversity themes. Eager to make a meaningful impact, she embarks on a journey of empathy, awareness, and support, offering not only "Jake" but also a collection of books aimed at fostering understanding and building a supportive framework for our brilliant yet differently-challenged community. Join Cara on this mission to create a world where neurodiversity is not just accepted but celebrated.
